Smith & Son - House Fire

Hi there everyone! If you know me then you know about Marley the Mermaid (I’m her honorary Mimi ♥️) and her wonderful family - her Momma, Tamesa (who is like a daughter to me and my sons’ big sister/BFF) and Daddy, Prom, and her big sisters Lera and Malayah! Also two dogs Luci and Bella round out the family.

I am devastated to share that they lost their house in a fire at 11:30pm last night (3/27/23) in a matter of about 15 min! They also lost a new pug puppy Buddha who did not make it out. Thankfully Marley was staying with her grandparents for the night (due to work/child care schedules) and also that Prom was awake as Tamesa said they would all be dead if he wasn’t! He got her, Lera, Malayah and the big dogs out safely.

I cannot even begin to imagine losing everything I own to escape with nothing but a t-shirt on my back - no pants, no shoes! They are blessed with wonderful neighbors, Steph and Carrie (who also work for the VA like me) and they gave them a place to shelter and also shoes and pants until the fire dept left. I am so grateful for them and their help.

I have never done anything like this but this is something I CAN DO to try to get them some help while they sort out everything! Funds will help with clothing and immediate necessities, and hopefully get them into some short-term housing and give them the ability to buy household items. I know that they would appreciate anything that your heart leads you to give!!
