Hi, I'm Diana and I'm setting up this page to help my sister Theresa Stranger with her fight with cancer- Here is her story...
I caught the "C" word not the Covid but the Cancer.
Towards the end of February 2020, I was playing with my dog, while I know she plays rough, she caught me off guard and my whole body slammed to the floor. I was sore for a few days, but then my stomach started to fill with fluid. I went to the Urgent care on March 5th 2020 and was diagnosed with "gas" told to take Gas -X and walk it off. I continued filling up with fluid and ended up in the emergency room March 9, coming home with the devastating news that my gas was actually Ovarian Cancer.......stage 3c .....CANCER!!!!!!
The disease had spread from the ovaries to both sides of my diaphragm, colon , rectum and my liver. I began chemo treatments in Grand Rapids (over 100 miles from home) and every 10-14 days I had to have fluid drained from my abdomen.
On July 15 I had surgery to remove the disease, three surgical teams were involved and I was in the operating room for 8 1/2 hours. The doctors removed all my female parts (uterus, ovaries, Fallopian tubes) deflated my lung spread my rib cage to remove both sides of the diaphragm took out the disease, and reattached. I had to have a colon restriction, and two areas of disease on my liver were also removed.
Gary has been great, he took a leave of absence from his job, so he could take care of me during this journey. My employer decided I was no longer needed (since I am sick) they "let me go" so I do not even have the security of a job to return to when I am able. As I restart chemo, and begin my road to recovery I am finding it harder for us to keep up on bills, travel and medical expenses.
Although I am not one to ask for help, we need help. If you can donate (any amount) Gary and I will be forever grateful. My family and friends wanted to do some fund raising benefit dinners and auctions, but due to covid we do not want to put anyone at risk. I'm also asking even if you can't help with a donation that you to please share this post. And please keep me in your prayers and I will continue to KICK CANCERS ASS!
