Smiley Miley Jo Trahan


Miley Jo Trahan, was born with Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA), also referred to as methylmalonic aciduria, an autosomal recessive metabolic disorder making her more susceptible to minor illness becoming serious. Miley contracted a normal stomach virus at the end of May which quickly turned into a life-threatening pancreas infection. Her blood sugar was at an extreme level requiring her to be given insulin, IV fluids, and a feeding tube. Miley was Life Flighted to Houston on the late night of May 30. She has now been in ICU at Texas Children's Hospital for nearly a month. She has undergone a multitude of tests, blood transfusions, and surgeries after being diagnosed with Necrotising Pancreatitis. NP is a health problem in which part of your pancreas dies due to inflammation or injury. If the dead tissue gets infected, it can cause serious life-threatening issues. Miley is still in the hospital and has a long road to recovery ahead of her and her MMA makes it a much more complicated one. Miley is a beautiful, happy 6-year-old girl who is always smiling. She is the youngest of three girls and just completed her first year of school. She loves playing outside, reading books, and spending time alongside animals.


As we all know, medical bills can be a very heavy financial burden, with or without the aid of insurance. We realize the focus at this time is on Mileyʼs health, and we are wanting to be proactive in our efforts to relieve some of the strain. We are starting this  “Go Fund Me” page in hopes of relieving some of the upcoming monetary obligations, allowing the family to get back to a normal routine, and create a solid foundation for Miley’s recovery.
