My amazing, incredible, selfless friends...Janalyn & Chris Watkins, have a BEAUTIFUL 9 year old daughter Cicily and this girl...is the HAPPIEST girl you will ever meet! In fact, Cicily is the middle of 3 BEAUTIFUL girls in her family and they are all INCREDIBLE and HAPPY!
Cicily has what is called degenerative hypomyelination (leukodystrophy) - so that means she has no white matter coating her brain, which is terminal. This means she has limited motor control and "shakey" movements. It does not affect Cicily's cognitive abilities, as she communicates and learns at a standard level for her age. Cicily also has "Treacher Collins - like Syndrome". For Cicily this basically means she was born with a cleft palate, small lower jaw, small ears, and no ear canals.
Cicily is such a TOUGH GIRL and is always so HAPPY! She handles all of her difficulties so well and is certainly up for the challenges that come her way! She is a medical mystery and blesses EVERYONE around her!
The Watkins family has NEVER asked for a dime from anyone and I know how badly they need a wheelchair accessible van. Her mother is the strongest person I know...but as Cicily grows...Janalyn stays the same size and hoisting that sweet Cicily in and out of her wheelchair into her carseat is an unbelievable task! They really needed this van years ago, but now that Cicily is 9 and just keeps on growing, it is apparent that it has become a NEED not a want. Let's save poor Janalyn's back!
Unfortunatley, these vans cost between $40,000-60,000 and that is an overwhelming amount of money for any family! This really should be covered by insurance, but unfortunately it isn't and CICILY needs this van! Her parents, JANALYN & CHRIS WATKINS...need this van! PLEASE PLEASE consider helping this family and help us get some WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE WHEELS FOR THE WATKINS!
