Smiles for Rescued Souls: Dental Care for Sanctuary Animals

Hi! We are Saving Grace Animal Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit nestled in the foothills of Acton, California. The sanctuary is home to nearly 50 rescued farm animals — including horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, alpacas, ducks, and more — all living out their days in peace and safety after being saved from neglect, abuse, or slaughter.

Right now, we’re raising $4,000 to cover the cost of essential dental care for our beloved horses and donkeys. Dental cleanings aren’t just cosmetic — they’re vital for preventing pain, infections, and difficulty eating. Many of our residents came to us with medical issues from years of mistreatment, and routine dental work ensures their continued comfort and health.

An equine's teeth continually grow, and to avoid serious health issues, their teeth need to be what's called "floated" (filed). Unlike humans, who chew up and down, horses and donkeys chew using a side-to-side motion — which means their teeth need to be flat in order to properly mash hay. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen naturally, and they need help keeping them in good shape. This becomes especially important as our crew gets older, since age often brings new dental challenges.

Saving Grace runs entirely on donations and volunteer support. Every dollar goes directly toward the animals’ care — and this fundraiser will make a real, immediate difference in their lives.
