Smile with Jack
Donation protected
Our sweet & silly Jack needs our help to smile. A severely aggressive cyst has made its way into Jack's jaw. In roughly two months, the cyst has not only destroyed some baby and permanent teeth, but has taken it's quick toll on his jawbone.
Surgery needs to happen immediately to remove the cyst, save his jaw and as many permanent teeth as possible. Sadly, Jack is looking at 4-5 surgeries in the next 12 month to fix this. The first surgery will remove the cyst, the damaged tissue, and part of the jaw bone to prepare the area for the next surgery. If all goes well, the second surgery will be a bone graft followed by a third procedure, maybe a forth, and eventually implants. I think I speak for all of us when I say that I would not wish this on anyone, let alone a 7 year old child.
Our spirited Jack is about to have his entire world turned upside down. After each procedure, Jack will be on a liquid diet for no less than a week (if not more) and restricted from many of his favorite activities for the entirety of this process. On top of everything, as he heals from one surgery he will have to prepare mentally, physically and emotionally for the next procedure, and the next, and the next. His parents are doing everything in their power to prepare for the long road ahead and get Jack healthy and happy.
Naturally, insurance is being difficult and the family is jumping through hoops to get Jack the immediate care needed to stop the deterioration of the jaw bone and further damage. Jack's procedures primarily fall under dental insurance, which many of us know covers roughly 50% of the cost. The hospital and anesthesia are the only areas that will fall under medical insurance, so needless to say the financial burden for each surgery will be significant.
I know Stephanie and Jono are the very last to ask for help. So I am asking. I want them to get the very best help for Jack without having to worry about the financial burden of what will not be covered by insurance.
If you cannot donate money, which I understand this year has been so hard, consider donating a meal or toy to help Jack on his long road to recovery. It will be 12 months (minimum) with multiple surgeries to rebuild his mouth. Which let me tell you.. is always full of jokes!
