South Meck HS Cross Country Trail

In 1998, a freshman at South Mecklenburg High School, Ben Robinette was running across the street at cross country practice. He was hit and killed by a car at the age of 14. The community was devistated and made a commitment that this would never happen again. Shortly after, plans for The Little Sugar Creek Greenway were made which included a 5k cross country trail behind South Meck High School. After years of planning, it is time now to bring this plan to reality. This spring the county is applying for a $250,000 grant that will assist in building the cross country trail and access to South Meck High. Donations would be much appericiated to show community support and strengthen our justification for this grant request.
