Help Maria Rebuild After Fire Loss

Hi guys, my name is Rosie Moreno. I’m making this GoFundMe to raise funds for my grandma, Maria Moreno, who lost her home today in a fire. We’re unsure what caused the fire as her apartment complex and a bus depot next to it were both on fire, but unfortunately, she has lost everything. Her clothes, her memories of her children down to her great-grandchildren, every single one of her belongings were lost in that fire.

A little backstory. For the last 5-8 years, she had been in the process of buying and rebuilding her old home where she raised her children here in Killeen, TX. However, the people that were “helping rebuild” her home completely ruined it (tore out the floor) and quit the job, leaving the house completely uninhabitable even though she is STILL paying it off. So on top of her monthly apartment rent she was paying, and her house mortgage, she is now left with a mortgage to an unfinished and uninhabitable home and nowhere to go as her apartment is gone.

Last month she was diagnosed with dementia and talked to us about her giving up the idea of her home, as she couldn’t afford to put more money into fixing it and doesn’t have the energy nor money to keep paying for rent and mortgage. Now that she has lost her apartment and all she has is this house she can’t currently live in (she will be staying with my mom for the meantime), I want to do everything I can to help her raise money not just to rebuild her own life and what she needs to survive, but to also hopefully, possibly, raise the money to help her rebuild her home.
