13 year old Isaiah Florendo, a Warm Springs tribal member has qualified to the Junior World Finals in Fort Worth, TX. Isaiah is a 2x qualifier. Last year he finished in the top ten in the world.
Isaiah is no stranger when it comes to rodeos. He's been competing since he was 5 years old. Born into a family of cowboys. His great grandpa Evans Spino Sr was a saddle bronc rider who competed in the NFR when it was held in Oklahoma City, OK. His Grandpa JE and his brothers Phillip, Ryan and Evans JR all competed in Saddle bronc, Bareback, Bullriding and also Wild Horse racing. All of which have earned championship titles and gold buckles back in their rodeo days so Isaiah has been coached by the best. Isaiah spends his summers competing in rodeos all over the northwest in hopes to make the finals held at the end of the year. Isaiah qualified for the Northwest Regional Finals this year ranking in the top 2 for the Saddle bronc and Bareback in the senior division. While at the Regional finals he placed 1st in the Bareback and 3rd in the Saddle bronc. He has qualified for the bareback division to compete in the Junior World Finals in Fort Worth, TX
In his off time, Isaiah enjoys playing basketball, baseball, hunting, fishing and helping on the family ranch. Isaiah is a ceremonial hunter for the tribal longhouse and helps gather firewood and when needed helps hunt for elders in need. He attends the Warm Springs K-8 Academy and is in the 8th grade.
Isaiah has won several buckles and championship titles in the recent years. In 2015 he was named the All-around cowboy at the Jefferson county cowdeo winning the steer riding, break away roping and barrel racing. In 2016 he won the steer riding and the mini buckers at the Simnasho Outlaw rodeo, the jr bullriding at the Pi Ume Sha treaty days rodeo and placed in the top two steer riders at the Fort rock summer series. In 2017 he won numerous buckles in Warm Springs and in Yuba City, CA where he qualified to the western states regional finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming. In 2018 he won the bareback and saddlebronc in the Modoc heritage summer series which was a qualifier for the IMRA finals also known as the IFR. This was held in Oklahoma City, OK where Isaiah won the reserve champion in the saddlebronc division. In 2019 he won the saddle bronc and bareback at the Modoc Heritage summer series in Cedarville, CA and also the butte valley summer shootout in Dorris, CA which qualified him to the northwest regionals in Yuba City, CA where he qualified to the Junior world finals (formerly known as the Jr NFR) in both the bareback and saddle bronc division. This year he won the saddlebronc and bareback division competing in the butte valley summer shootout held in Dorris, CA. He also won the steer riding at the Klamath falls junior rodeo. At the western regional finals he finished #1 in the bareback division qualifying to the junior world finals.
The Junior World Finals will he held at the Cowtown coliseum in Forth Worth, Texas on December 2-8, 2020.
We will be driving down, leaving on November 29th, any and all help will go towards travel expenses. (Food, lodging and fuel)
Isaiah rides to represent not only the reservation he comes from but also the great state of Oregon.
