Help Kickstart Kelsey’s Fight Against POTS & MCAS
Donation protected

Hello, my name is Sahil and I am fundraising for my wife, Kelsey.
Kelsey is 34 years old and currently severely ill. She has been diagnosed with several rare and incurable diseases - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Neutropenia, Anemia, Malnourishment , Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disorder (SEID), and Post -Concussion Syndrome. The only measures that can be taken are daily medical treatments in the form of intravenous blood infusions, neurological and vestibular protocols, and intensive work on the nerves, bones and muscles of the body to retain limb and motor function. Despite all of these measures, the outcome is a minimal amount of symptoms management in order for Kelsey to get through the day. The problem is that these treatments, and all medical supplies and costs pertaining to these procedures are not covered by Alberta Health Services or any insurance plan. Therefore, this becomes a heavy financial burden which amounts to over thousands of dollars per week in medical expenses. As my wife is dealing with all of this, she is unable to work. Therefore, we are on a single income and with the cost of these medical expenses and the ever inflating cost of living in this country, it is not feasible or manageable.
The fundraising efforts would offer many improvements in Kelsey's life. First of all, if some of the medical expenses could be covered, it would open up the capital to offer a whole new level of medical care for my wife. Second of all, not only are these diseases incurable, they are also getting worse by the day. Due to the rare nature of these illnesses, we have experienced great difficulty with finding a medical team who is willing and able to take Kelsey under their wing to explore any and all other options to perhaps improve her health or to at least slow down the deterioration. This fundraiser would allow for us to reach out to doctors in the USA, such as the Mayo Clinic or Vanderbilt University, where there are current success stories of patients with these illnesses after being under their care. Lastly, we would hopefully be able to afford to obtain some in-home support for Kelsey for the times I am away from home on work duty. It can be dangerous at times for one to be left alone in this health situation. Therefore, this fundraising opportunity would provide hope for a better future, a higher quality of life, and peace of mind through safety, which are all huge blessings for Kelsey!
Kelsey is such a caring, beautiful and a very strong soul and any help from you would go so far. We would be very much appreciative, grateful and thankful for your help!
