At Kind Keeper No-Kill Animal Shelter, every life matters.

As a nonprofit, no-kill shelter, our mission is simple but powerful: to save the lives of homeless pets, promote kindness to animals, and advance the highest standards of animal welfare. Every day, we open our doors to animals who have nowhere else to go — the abandoned, the surrendered, the overlooked, and the forgotten.

Our mission is big… and our current space is no longer big enough.

We have run out of room, but we have not run out of heart. To continue saving lives and giving animals the second chances they deserve, we are in the process of building a new, larger facility. This expansion will allow us to rescue more pets, provide better care, and create a safer, more comfortable environment while they wait for their forever homes.

As a nonprofit organization, we receive no government funding. Every donation, every gift, and every volunteer hour directly impacts the animals in our care. Our work is only possible because of the compassion and generosity of our community.

We currently use leased space which we have outgrown due to the number of animals that pass through our doors. For example, in 2016 we had 100 adoptions...fast forward to 2025 and we had over 3000 live outcomes. 2026 numbers show we are on track for another year of over 1000 live outcomes.

In 2021 we were able to purchase 10 acres of farmland that is only 15 minutes from our current location.

Our current building is small and crowded.

Our kennels do not have drains in the floors or openings to private runs. Animals must walk through the small hallways to go outside to common fenced areas.

We take in abandoned and stray animals, as well as owner surrenders. We also take animals from several of the surrounding county shelters to free up space for them when they are reaching "time limits" and will need to euthanize animals. We take in pregnant mommas and their babies. We take animals that are sick and injured - and we provide the necessary veterinary care for them.
