SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS with HNTP

Donation protected
Hi fellow humans,

Human Needs Theatre Project is taking a deep dive into how a system of personal awareness can awaken theatrical characterization.

OUR MISSION
Human Needs Theatre Project’s mission is to spotlight the commonality all humans share in striving to satisfy universal human needs. We aspire to illuminate these universal needs through the works of playwrights ranging in style, time period, or genre; as well as storylines varying in circumstance, culture, race, or religion. The Human Needs Technique, a new approach for actors, is based on Human Needs Psychology, giving the actor a systematic way to categorize motivation for human behavior. This powerful skill set serves as a means for discovering just how universal human experiences actually are.

THE PROJECT
We will be workshopping The Human Needs Technique with SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS by Bess Wohl. Rehearsal will include explorations in HNT, Laban, Chekov and various movement methodologies, culminating in 3-6 performances with talk-backs.

We're currently in pre-production. This time is dedicated to raising funds, locking down our cast, creative team, rehearsal and performance space (locked in, by the way!), and all of the other marketing, promotion and hidden costs that pop up when we least expect them.

COMMUNITY BENEFIT
A generous portion of our proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to The Big Silence. With human needs at the core of what Small Mouth Sounds explores, our motivation has been to connect with an organization that values the importance of the integration of mental health conversations into daily lives. The Big Silence raises awareness, offers resources, promotes understanding, and aims to bring together people and organizations who want to improve public attitudes towards mental health and normalize conversations surrounding mental health topics and experiences. The Big Silence offers resources and support to anyone directly or indirectly impacted by mental illness. We will be having post-show talk-backs allowing our audience, actors and creative team to engage in essential conversations that focus on our universal needs for feeling special, safe, loved, connected, expanding our own experience and giving back to the world.

YOUR IMPACT
Now that you know all about us and our mission at HNTP, here's where you come in! Your donation (big or small) will directly support our production, creative and marketing costs.

Creating intimate, meaningful theatre is, let’s not mince words, EXPENSIVE. Just the idea of asking for money usually makes us break out in hives. Not this time. We wholeheartedly believe in this project.

We’re reaching out to everyone who values small self-made, diverse, visionary, creative, and compelling work. You love the thrill of it, the emotional impact, the escape of everyday life! And it’s that shared experience, as both audience and actor, that creates our much needed human connection. SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS fits our mission statement so clearly. Universal human needs – illuminated.

Please share our campaign on social media, tell your friends, and corner your relatives. Get the word out! This truly would not be possible without YOU! Now let’s put on a show!

With utmost gratitude and love,
The HNTP team
