We need to raise £41,176 urgently or the Animal Hostel Trust may have to stop rescuing horses.

For more than 30 years, a small group of unpaid volunteers have rescued horses that nobody else would take.

Most of that work has been my mum, Lou, who has spent decades caring for horses in need.

We are doing everything we can ourselves to raise funds, but we cannot do this alone. If enough people give a small amount, we can get through this!

Lou works very long days, 7 days a week, in all weathers, and the horses always come first. She has done an amazing job caring for them, nursing poorly ones back to health, now she and the horses need your urgent help.

Just before Christmas a few years ago, three foals were abandoned by the side of the road with nowhere to go. We called them Tiny Tim, Felix and Black Beauty.

They arrived malnourished, frightened and unsure of people and had been taken from their mothers far too young. Felix had health problems that needed round the clock treatment. Lou spent weeks patiently nursing him back to health.

Today Tim and Felix are happily rehomed together (they became friends), while Black Beauty is still with us building the confidence he needs before finding the right home. We never rush – If a horse needs time, we give it.

But now WE need rescuing.

Because of a planning issue, we were forced to move the rescued horses off our own fields and have been left with this overwhelming bill.

Our local community and neighbouring farmers, who have known us for years, have been incredibly supportive and helped us keep going through this crisis. Now we need help raising the money to get through it and rebuild.
