Relief Fund for Love N' Haight (Small Business)

A Message From the Owners and Family:

Until Recently, we have kept Love N' Haight open for over 20 years serving vegetarian sandwiches to people all over the world.  The pandemic of Covid-19 has put many small businesses in jeopardy and unfortunately we are of course not exempt from it.

As of October 1st, we have decided to close; however because of the overwhelming support of loyal customers that want to see us thrive, as well as their willingness to continue to support us, we have decided to open a GoFundMe page. We are thankful for all the support we have received, which we will try to return to our loving lower Haight community in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are fundraising in hopes being able to bounce back from this loss to our family's main source of income, as well as somehow being able to get back on our feet in the near future.  We are hoping for just enough support to weather the storm, at least until Covid dies down, which will allow all business to bloom once again.

Until then, we have determined that we definitely cannot survive without your help. The $15,000 goal we are hoping to raise will keep us financially stable for a least a few more months so that we can continue to endure within community we have loved  to be a part of for over 2 decades.

The owners of Love N' Haight Deli are immigrants from Laos, surviving the harsh environments  of the Vietnam invasion of Laos and refugee camps in Thailand. From a young age, they have always learned the harsh world of living through cheap eats, however they wanted to share that cheap doesn't have to mean unhealthy eats. Their mission in opening this deli was way to provide a cheap and healthy eats option in San Francisco with an American twist through the lessons they've learned and ingredients available to them after arriving to the states. We have provided $6 dollar sandwiches for over 20 years, even through increased overhead costs, and we wish we could to continue to do so, however after closing on Oct 1st, it has become difficult to make ends meet. This is their heart and treasure and the owners decided to go through every possible option before deciding to close.

We cannot express how deeply appreciative we are of the overwhelming willingness of support we are shown. Any support possible you can provide will be thanked by our most felt hearts.

Thanks for caring and reading

A message from the community:

Myself, as one individual customer cannot even begin to summarize how important this deli has been in forming my upbringing in the Haight, and its importance in the community overall for almost my entire life. I was born and raised in the Haight, and I've been getting sandwiches here at least once a week for over half my life; I've never had a bad meal ONCE. This place was especially essential for me and my friends and family, especially as living expenses in San Francisco continue to rise, this delicious sandwich was often the only nutritious food me and mine could afford, and gave us a light of hope in dark times.

If you have ever lived without wealth , as a "weirdo", as a minority, vegetarian, bohemian, or otherwise neglected by society, there was ALWAYS a welcome home for you here at Love N' Haight. I can't tell you how many times the only place I had to go was this deli, and just sit and slowly chew the tasty meal, nurse my ice tea can, and read the free newspaper.  The owners would happily serve you always with a smile, no matter how long you stayed or how annoying you were. EVERYONE  I know who grew up in the area and has gone through tough times relied on this place in the same way.

NOW IT'S TIME TO PAY IT FORWARD. if you or anyone you know has been touched by how amazing this place and this family is please reach out and share. They need you more now than ever, and if you have ever eaten their scrumptious food you KNOW its always been underpriced, and they've never raised their prices, because they are there for THE PEOPLE. Now is the time to pony up, now is the time to show up,   now is the time to show your support. Spread the wealth and spread the love!

Thanks again for reading this far <3
