Small Book Press Publishing New Work in 2023

WHO WE ARE

Tilted House is a small, volunteer-run book press in New Orleans, Louisiana. We print and publish books, and host readings and other events in the community. And we’re ecstatic to be publishing brand new work from local and not-so-local poets early next year!

WHAT WE’RE PUBLISHING

Five books of poetry and art. Two gorgeous manuscripts from poets Danny Unger (New Orleans) and Olga Mikolaivna (San Diego) were chosen by our editors for our inaugural 1BR / 3BATH Chapbook Prize and are slated for publication in March 2023. These are their first books! In addition, three (currently undecided) manuscripts from our micro series, Netsuke, will be published later in the year.

WHAT WE NEED

We need about $4,000 to print and distribute these brand-new, unread works.

As poets, puppeteers, editors, teachers, and baristas, all the time and energy we put into this press is a labor of love. We are funded solely through book sales, donations, and our own pockets.

So, in small press fashion, we’re asking for your help with the production of these works, which includes materials, shipping costs, and the maintenance of our website (where we publish other work and sell books). Letterpress-printing and hand-binding roughly 625 books is expensive and time-consuming, especially using quality paper, good ink, and community spaces.

WHERE FUNDS WILL GO

Any support will keep Tilted House (thus the New Orleans community and small presses at large) afloat for another go around, and help us continue to produce beautiful, tangible work with care and close attention to detail.
