Small Baking Company's Oregon City Kitchen

Donation protected
I'm Joanna, the owner and recipe creator of Small Baking Company (SBC). I've worked in the food industry since I was 16 and have been baking professionally for the past 12 years. I launched SBC in 2016, shortly after moving to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

SBC is committed to using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients: organic whole grains, organic hazelnuts, eggs, butter, honey, fruits & veggies. We also source fair trade chocolate and cocoa powder, produced in California and Portland, OR, respectively. We sell at 3 local farmer's markets, wholesale to restaurants, and direct to customers through catering.

We intentionally primarily sell at farmers' markets because it is the best place to connect with our community. At the markets, we purchase many of our ingredients from other farmers and makers. We also love talking with market customers who appreciate our commitment to sourcing local and who we often connect to other local businesses and share whole grain baking tips.

Until now, we have used Portland commissary kitchens for production, between 25-45 minutes away from our community in Oregon City. We have outgrown the limited hours and space available at these shared kitchens. There are no shared kitchen spaces in Oregon City, despite there being a rapidly growing food scene here.

We have just signed a lease, beginning April 2023, for a production space in Oregon City, which will allow us to grow and better serve our community. We are planning to share the space with 1-3 additional small food/beverage businesses since we know there is a need. We will also be able to welcome our customers to the space when they pick up orders.

We need funding support to purchase production equipment. Our total funding request is $15,000. (The amounts listed below total $14,918.45.) We are aware there will be additional costs, but these are what we are requesting help with:
electric ovens: $9,795.00
commercial refrigerator: $2211.00
bun rack for fridge: $215.00
professional movers (to move our mixer, freezer, storage racks from our previous commissary kitchen to our production space): $1000 (estimate)
Induction Range: $359.98 for two
anti-slip/anti-fatigue mats: $337.47 for three
electrician: $1000 (estimate)

Thank you for supporting Small Baking Company & for sharing widely on social media. I can't wait to welcome you to our new space! For updates, please follow along on Instagram
