I am writing to humbly request some help raising money to purchase a laptop for a balinese girl.

Bali's economy heavily relies on tourism and the Covid-19 pandemic brought that to a standstill. While tourism is now recovering, the benefits have not be evenly distributed. Large businesses are bouncing back but many local Balinese families are being left begins and are struggling more than ever due to the rapid rising cost of living, inflation and limited access to stable income.

In my recent travels to Indonesia, I had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with many local Balinese, many who are extremely hard working, grateful for the little they have but struggling financially to make ends meet. So many are far less fortunate than us with little too no life luxuries that we often take for granted.

One such basis necessity which, too them is a luxury, is the laptop for their children's education. Access to technology especially laptops could make a profound difference to students especially in high school entering University.

One special concern is the disadvantage faced by many young Balinese girls. Due to entrenched cultural beliefs and gender norms, girls often face pressure to leave school early or are discouraged from pursuing higher education.

Feminism and gender equality is still under supported in many communities leaving young women with little opportunities to advance.

My goal is to provide one laptop to a 16yr old Balinese girl currently in high school aspiring to be a civil/design engineer. Access to a laptop would provide a lifeline to empower this young person to further her education, have a voice and choice in shaping her future. Her father is a humble, patient, honest and kind taxi driver. Competition is tough so work is sporadic. As the only bread winner in a family of 4 plus the responsibility of caring for their aged parents and inlaws, good earnings are often barely enough.

I understand that one person cannot possibly help everyone in need but if we can help but just one person in a small way, the smallest act of kindness can change their world entirely. A drop in the ocean can have a rippling effect.
