Small act, big impact: join us in changing lives through education!

Hi! We are Annick Rozendaal (31) and Joost Koevoets (32) from the Netherlands. Over the past months, we have worked as volunteers in several regions in Uganda. Recently, we have started a new project in Karamoja, one of the poorest regions in the country.

Karamoja’s rich cultural heritage and strong community life have inspired us. However, the challenges of poverty, child malnutrition, violence, and particularly the lack of education have deeply touched us. Seeing this struggle close by, we felt the urge to take action.

Without education, these children face a future with no opportunities, early marriages for girls, malnutrition, and constant uncertainty. Education is a game-changer. It offers children their first bed, enough food, love, and most importantly, dreams and a purpose in life. Let's help these children dream big and change their lives forever.

We are raising funds for SHANITA, a nonprofit organization based in Uganda, dedicated to supporting children in crisis through long-term education. For just $600 per year, a child receives everything needed to attend school, including a safe place to live, sleep, eat, and most importantly, be loved.

Currently, five children (pictured below) need sponsorship to stay in school and keep their dreams alive. Our goal is to support these five children, ensuring they have the education and future they deserve.

How to support:

A scholarship for a school year costs $50 a month or $600 per academic year. We understand this is a significant amount, so we've broken down the annual and monthly costs to help you decide how you can contribute:

Study fees: $150 per year or $12,5 per month
Nutritious meals: $96 per year or $8 per month
Child mentor: $84 per year or $7 per month
School materials: $84 per year or $7 per month
Medical support: $72 per year or $6 per month
Personal equipment: $66 per year or $5,5 per month
Accomodation: $45 per year or $4 per month

How your donations will reach SHANITA:

Since GoFundMe doesn't directly send funds to SHANITA, we will withdraw the money to our bank account and then transfer it directly to SHANITA. We will cover any fees, ensuring 100% of your donation goes to the children.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps keep these children in school. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in Karamoja.

What touches us most is seeing so many children who dream of going to school, but simply don’t have the opportunity because there is no money. Something that is taken for granted in our own lives is a struggle for these children. With little help we can make a big difference for them.
