On October 26th our brother Paul Smaida (Paulie) was brutally beaten while riding his scooter in Florida and left for dead (On his 33rd Birthday). Paul was air-lifted to the closest trauma hospital where he has already undergone surgery, putting a plate in his face and above his left eye. Paul and his family recently moved from Chicago to Sarasota late May and he is currently the sole provider for his family of five. Paul’s wife Kristen and his children, Barrett (6), Landen (3) and Dakoda (1) are struggling with not only the senselessness of this horrific crime but now do not know how they will make ends meet since Paul’s prognosis to return to work in unknown and indefinite at the current time. We know that Paul is also going to need additional surgeries to include extensive dental surgery since this beating knocked out teeth as well as plastic surgery and eye surgery to ensure his vision is not impacted.

For those of you who do not know, Paul and Kristen are the kindest, most generous, god-loving and caring people you’ll ever meet. They show love, patience and grace to everyone who has crossed their paths and are the first ones there to help anyone in need. We wanted to start this fund to assist with the financial burden and worry regarding the current known and unknown medical expenses and to assist while Paul is unable to work and provide for his family.

Anything we can come together and do will make a world of difference for them.
