Our beloved Bo has recently been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer no family ever expects to face. This devastating news has deeply affected all who love him, yet Bo continues to meet every challenge with remarkable strength and resilience. At only two years old, he is confronting his treatment with the spirit of a true fighter.

Bo has begun his long treatment journey in Brisbane, which includes 25 weeks of chemotherapy delivered in three-week cycles. Doctors anticipate at least nine months of treatment, potentially longer. He is currently in Week 2 of his treatment.

To ensure Bo receives the care he needs, his parents have significantly reduced their work commitments. This has placed substantial financial strain on the family. They now face the cost of ongoing flights—Bo’s dad must travel back and forth for work—as well as continuing rent on their home in the Northern Territory so Bo can eventually return to a familiar environment.

While Bo’s medical treatment and hospital costs are covered, the family has been financially overwhelmed by everything else required to support his care. Because treatment is not available in the NT, they were required to relocate to Brisbane. The NT government is covering hospital-related accommodation, but Bo must remain in Brisbane for the entire duration of treatment. This has left the family split between two states, with both parents transitioning to casual work to remain by Bo’s side while still trying to meet ongoing expenses.

Once Bo is cleared to leave the hospital, the family will move into temporary accommodation, bringing further financial challenges along with the many unexpected costs of a serious diagnosis.
