An update on Sloan since the surgery:
He had a tumor the size of a cantelope removed along with 2 feet of colon. Unfortunately it seems like the cancer also spread to his liver so he will need chemotherapy starting in about 4-5 weeks.
Hello friends,
After some routine blood work last week, our friend and colleague Jonathan Sloan has received a diagnosis of colon cancer involving his colon wall, a mass, and possible metastasis. He will be going for surgery to remove the mass, a section of his colon, and investigate any further invasive process next Thursday. Due to amount of intestine being removed, his anticipated length of stay in the hospital is expected to be at least 7 days.
Jonathan's wife, Jana, is a teacher who has been out of work for the last couple of years due to a series of back surgeries. His older son, Christopher, has sickle cell anemia. Jonathan is the family's bread winner, cook, cleaner, and chauffeur.
Let's help assist the family with some of their living expenses and treatment costs while Jonathan is receiving treatment. It will give the family some much needed breathing room so Jonathan can focus on his treatment and recovery. Jonathan also welcomes your good wishes and prayers. Thank you for assisting our friend as he goes into battle.
