Slipping Rib Syndrome Surgery Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Kayla and I’m fundraising for the first surgery I’ll need for Slipping Rib Syndrome. My surgery is rapidly approaching on Aug. 31, and we just got word that insurance is not covering it (because it’s a fairly new procedure at only 3 years old) and we have to pay all out of pocket expenses for it within the next 13 days.

This means we are looking at roughly $14k we have to come up with.

Slipping Rib Syndrome is a rare condition where ribs break free from the cartilage holding them, and become mobile, causing a host of related nerve pain, etc. It makes everyday tasks like loading and unloading the dishwasher, driving, twisting, exercising, and worst of all- simply picking up and loving on my kids- nearly impossible to do.

I’ve lived with 6 detached and separated ribs for 2 years now, before finally reaching a specialist in West VA who could diagnose me (he said I was a very severe case) and schedule me for the surgery I so desperately need.

Along this journey I’ve always said, and still believe, that all the pain has a purpose. We have hesitated to put a GoFundMe up, because we just truly have wanted to try every other avenue we could think of for fundraising first.

However we are quickly running out of time and have had several friends and family suggest we create one, as a easy way for anyone who reads our story and feels compelled to bless us in this way.
