Slippers' Fight for Recovery and Mobility
Donation protected
Early afternoon on July 4th, my daughter’s cat, Slippers, came on our back porch with blood on her leg, crying and limping. We took her to the vet, and they said someone had shot her with a firearm.
Her radius was shattered, but thankfully her ulna was still intact. We were told surgery was the best option, costing over $5k, but because she is only a year old, we could try to let her bone heal by keeping her in a dog crate for 8-12 weeks. She would need bandage changes at least weekly (this vet charged $200) and another x-ray at 8 weeks to see how the bone is healing. If she does not heal, she will need to have an amputation. Initially, we paid the $500 for the first emergency visit, and someone was generous enough to Venmo $200 to help with that. I am not sure how much an amputation will cost yet, but I am praying Slippers will heal and will recover to her happy self. Either way, there are many more vet visits in our future for her because of this horrible act.
We appreciate all the messages of concern and care for our precious Slippers.
