I’m humbly asking for your support to create a bustling hub for art, community, learning, support and passion in my hometown of Tonasket, Washington, to build a rich and beautiful legacy for my daughter and to give back to my community. I am seeking to raise $50,000 to open a ceramics studio that teaches the fundamental methods of wheel thrown and hand-built ceramics while also establishing a communal space by selling student’s wares and other local art in an attached gallery.
Beyond the muddy, messy and gritty exterior of pottery is a peaceful, quiet and earthen magic waiting to be woken. Using the most primitive form of alchemy, fire, we create vessels that hold nourishment and art that invites emotion. Fire in every form transforms both the physical and spiritual. It inspires me to create and it continues to shape my hometown. Washington State is notorious for major, scary and sometimes fatal wildfires during the summer months. Watching people, I love or barely know lose everything they cherish to the fiery furnace is humbling beyond measure. I will honor this element by donating a percentage of my business’ profits to benefit fire survivors & firefighters when the opportunity arises.
The birthplace of art is passion. The knowing that nothing is outside of our imagination and expressing that takes amazing amounts of courage and grit. I will also be creating a scholarship program for artists who are looking to expand their education and feed the flame of passion and their art.
I appreciate your support to bring my passion to my community and to by doing so, serve my community through my passion.
