Sleestak's Big Adventure

Portland is getting back to normal. Saturday Market is open, people are gathering again, and we're FINALLY able to enjoy our city!

I'm dying to create some fun! I've been wanting to do a project as a kind of declaration that Portland is ready to feel good, and “Be Weird” again. And just something to put Portland’s creative community to work.

I'm a big fan of silly characters and one of the best is Pee Wee Herman. So, I'm Teaming up with Videoe is the Future and the Earth is Dying Productions setting out to make a "Portland Flavored" interpretation of the "Tequila" scene in the motion picture “Pee Wee's Big Adventure.”

Starring the Portland Sleestak as Pee Wee Herman, and a menagerie of Weird Portland figures as the bikers and hooligans occupying the bar where Sleestak tries to use the phone and ends up in hot water.

The Unipiper, Plastorm, Mr. Statue, Poison Waters, are just a few, and we're hard at work confirming as many as possible of Portland’s unique characters that make our beautiful city so great. 

I've also been collaborating with local musicians for an original, exclusively Portland soundtrack.

This project will not only spotlight our treasured Weirdos, but it puts many Portland based independent film crew members to work.
