SLE Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hurricane Harvey devastated our area beginning on August 25, 2017, with non-stop rain for 6 days. Unfortunately, Harvey did not have any mercy on our area for the next several days dropping somewhere between 47 and 51 inches of rain. Hardin-Jefferson ISD serves around 2100 students from an area covering almost 300 sq. miles, spanning across both Hardin and Jefferson counties of Texas.
A majority of our student's families have lost their homes or had extensive damage to their homes due to major flooding. Thankfully at the elementary level most of the student's school supplies were spared, as they were in their classrooms, which did not take on water. However, these students have lost necessities such as backpacks, clothes, shoes, etc.
Sour Lake Elementary PTO has partnered with Kaylynn Investments to run the campaign to help out our district students! Hawk Nation is a strong nation, help us help them!!!
OUR GOAL: To give each family that have lost their belongings money to allow them to re-purchase these necessities to allow them to get back to school and back into a routine! We would love to provide a specific amount to each student's family, $100 per student. However, we cannot do this without your help!! Also, we would love to provide a free #HJStrong t-shirt to every student at SLE.
We have shirts available for purchase, you can make a donation, or both! All proceeds will go to our HJ students!!
Campaign initiated by Lisa Vanya, active SLE Committee Chair, Jordan Letsinger, an active SLE PTO member, and Alicia Hughes, current 2017-18 PTO President.
