Slaydies First Aid Course Scholarship Fund

The Slaydies Society's mission is to empower all womxn in the outdoors. To help further that mission, we are raising money to host a two-day Wilderness First Aid class. We understand that costly certification classes and trainings can be a barrier to folks feeling comfortable and confident outside or seeking employment in the industry. Your donations will allow us to offer partial and complete scholarships for womxn who might otherwise be unable to attend a training like this. This class will bring womxn together to learn critical backcountry preparedness skills and to uplift and support each other in the process.

 

Details on this course:

 

This class will take place September 10th- 11th at Silver Creek Campground outside of Boise, ID. Students will earn a nationally recognized CPR and Wilderness First Aid Certification through SOLO Wilderness Medicine School. This 16-hour course, put on by an all-womxn team, will teach the basics of first aid and backcountry medicine.

 

To reduce barriers to this course, we will help with transportation from the Boise area.

Cost Breakdown: 

This course typically costs $220/person which often does not include lodging. Your donations will allow us to offer spots to 12 womxn; 4 at full cost, 4 at half-pay and 4 at full scholarship. Additionally, donations will cover the fees for the instructor and ensuring that the camping is free and accessible. Any additional funds raised will be used to cover the cost of food for some of the event or to sponsor additional Slaydies events.
