Per the recent announcement, teachers within Denver Public Schools will be going on strike. Our teachers do not want to strike, but they have been left with no choice.  They are seeking compensation that is predictable, transparent, and livable.  As a show of support, several families have decided to financially help Slavens teachers while they are on strike. Many of our teachers live paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford to strike for more than a few days.  

While on strike teachers do not get paid and their benefits (health insurance, etc.) are suspended. All funds collected will be evenly distributed among our striking teachers (unless a striking teacher opts out). If a striking teacher opts out of the support, the contributions will then be divided among the rest of the striking teachers, increasing the individual amounts. We have 50 strike eligible teachers at Slavens.

We want to ensure we exceed our amount (hopefully by a LOT!). Unfortunately Go Fund Me will only fund a campaign if it is funded at 100% by donors - thus the low goal.
