Hi, I am Sandy Goad, President of Space Coast Feline Network in Brevard County, FL. We have been doing TNR, cat rescue, fostering/adopting & have a primitive feral/feline leukemia shelter since 1998. We also help with injured/sick community cats with fundraisers.
This fundraiser is of a personal nature...my sister who has helped with trapping, fostering & adopting had one of her own cats go jaundice in just a 48-hour period with no advance warning signs. Slate ate on Sunday, 12/29/24 & Tuesday night 12/31/24 he was yellow. We spent New Year's Eve in the animal ER. He had to stay & is still there. His bloodwork pointed obviously to the liver & pancreas. He had a feeding tube inserted 1/1/25 for every 8 hour feedings & an ultrasound will be done today to see if there is a bile duct blockage (gall stones).
Neither my sister or I are financially well off...we get by. My sister needed a car transmission a year ago on a car she still owed $4,000 on..so it sits with no transmission & the payments still have to be made. As for me, I have been doing rescue for 25 years & that's where 75% of my pension & social security goes.
Slate's total bill as of today is a little over $2,500. If he had acted sick before or now, we would have sent him to kitty heaven. But he is still very alert & active & giving head butts & kisses. Your donation will go to Space Coast Feline Network, a 501-(c)(3) non-profit & will be tax deductible. Everything up to what Slate's final bill is will be to reimburse what we have already put on credit cards. Anything extra will stay with Space Coast Feline Network for our foster/adoption program (we currently have 2 fosters needing eye surgery). Any amount is helpful...thank you in advance.
