We are The Wistful Company, and we’re thrilled to announce our latest production, Sky-Scraping, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025!

This second milestone project brings together a talented cast and crew, including the team behind our 2022 Fringe debut, along with fresh, inspiring new faces. Together, we aim to make poetry accessible, exciting, and meaningful for younger audiences.

Sky-Scraping is a lighthearted yet moving tale of Jack, a young Cockney lamplighter who discovers London’s poets across the ages. From the 14th century to the present day, Jack journeys through time, encountering voices that capture the heart and soul of the city. The rhythms of Wordsworth’s Westminster Bridge and Caleb Femi’s vivid depictions of modern-day Peckham leap to life in an entirely new and innovative art form, blending storytelling, performance, and verse.

Our mission is simple: to take the “ponce” out of poetry while keeping all its heart. Through humor, imagination, and authenticity, Sky-Scraping makes poetry something everyone—especially younger audiences—can connect with. Whether you’re a Londoner or have only dreamed of visiting, Jack’s story will resonate, surprise, and delight.
