Skylynn's Medical Fund
This is Skylynn, living in the Columbia River George (Oregon) with her mother and Father (Shawn and Heather Bichler).
Six years old, just into 1st grade, excited to join gymnastics, silly, little firecracker, and overall a happy little girl
October 2016, my niece, Sky, started having unexplained seizures.
She was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis.
Prescribed medication seemed to help control her seizures through most of November; sadly, Sky's symptoms returned and grew more severe, with 10+ episodes daily .
December 7th, 2016, Sky was hospitalized for 7 days, at OHSU Doernbechers in Portland, Oregon, undergoing several tests (MRI, EEG, EKG, PET Scan, Ultra Sounds on her heart and kidneys, Genetic Testing, and several medication changes).
*Results on the EKG showed Sky has developed a minor form of Dilated Cardiomyopathy. She is currently on heart medication to hopefully heal her heart condition.
After being examined by the epilepsy specialist and reviewing the MRI, results show Skylynn's brain has grown abnormally; causing her siezures...
Maintaining a low carbohydrate diet was recommended by cardio specialists to help Sky's body produce ketones instead of carbohydrates, in hopes that it will help with her seizures.
** Surgery has been scheduled for January 3, 2017 to remove the mass (Tuberous, "Tuber") from the right side of Sky's brain. **
Do to resources available and quality of care, Skylynn's parents, Shawn and Heather Bichler, have been driving 80+ miles for all of Sky's doctor appointments and hospital stays. Sky has spent over 192 hours in the hospital over the course of October - December . After surgery on January 3rd, Sky will need to be seen every 6 months for the next few years.
Though it is the least of their concerns, as their daughter's health is first and foremost, medical expenses continue adding up.
Sadly, we are unable to take away Skylynn's seizures or the agony her parents feel as they try to comfort their scared, 6 year old daughter; however, it is within our means to pray to a God that has that power and help support the Bichler family financially.
Every dollar makes a difference in helping the Bichler Family.
Thank You for your support during this time.
