Sadly on Monday May 18, 2015, Daniel and Carolanne Hochspeier's beautiful husky, Skylar, was hit by a car near their old rental home in Monmouth, Oregon.
Skylar was in the front yard near Carolanne when the catastrophe happened. Skylar, being her friendly and loving self, went to play with some neighbored kids right before the accident happened. She was struck by an oncoming vehicle as she walked over to play with the kids.
Horrified Carolanne took her own shirt off her back and rushed to her baby girl's aid. She was able to temporarily stop the bleeding and able to housie Skylar into the car before rushing her to the emergency veterinarian clinic with her husband, Daniel.
After upon arriving at the emergency veterinarian clinic is Salem, Oregon, Carolanne and Daniel had to leave Skylar overnight to stabilize her. They found out that Skylar had torn tendons in her back foot. The vet also conducted blood tests and x-rays to see if there were any broken bones and internal bleeding.
After leaving their precious girl over night, they took Skylar to her primary vet where the received the news that they would have to amputate her back leg. The Hochspeier's took Skylar to a veterinary clinic in Portland, Oregon in Tuesday May 19, 2015 to begin the operation with a surgeon.
Skylar went into surgery on 10:00am on Tuesday May 18th. The surgery would last about 1 1/2 hours with a 2 hour recovery time before she could be seen by Daniel and Carolanne.
If you personally know Daniel and Carolanne Hochspeier you know how much they love their precious Skylar. That beautiful husky is a true family member to them, a daughter quite frankly. Both Daniel and Carolanne have a huge passion for all animals. They would give generously in another person's time of need and I am asking that you do the same in their time of need!
Skylar brings so much joy not only to Daniel and Carolanne, but their family, friends, and community as well! That beautiful husky lights up a room and brings true joy and comfort to all!
Brittany Nass and myself, Michele Davis ask that you share her story! Skylar is going to live, she will have 3 legs instead of 4, but we know that will not change her personality. She will be the same dog and will be loved by all no matter how many legs she has! We ask you to give as you feel led!
