As many of you know I graduated a year early from High School and am taking a Gap year before going to college. When I started my plan to graduate a year early, my freshman year of High School, it was to have a year before college to experience “life” before starting a 4 year degree program.  During my gap year I plan to volunteer, experience new cultures, and learn about myself and other parts of the world. In pursuit of my dream I have partnered with a non-profit organization called Cross-Cultural Solutions. Cross-Cultural Solutions enables people of all ages to volunteer in a variety of need based countries. My 3-month journey begins in February and I will be volunteering in Peru, Africa, and India. I will be spending one month in each location helping the community, teaching, and becoming immersed in the culture. My goals for these three months are service, immersion, and discovery. I want to engage in meaningful volunteer work, help to develop communities and positively impact the lives of others. I want to immerse myself in the communities, fully experience the culture and form genuine connections with people from different backgrounds. Lastly, I want to identify my talents, learn how to articulate who I am and what I care about, and I want to make a difference in the world.

            I’m asking for support to pursue this volunteer opportunity. The cost of this trip covers my travel to and from the different countries, meals, lodging, language lessons, and visas. I have won a service scholarship and am working, to fund my trip, but still need more financial support. Any donation that you would like or are able to give would be greatly appreciated. I plan to blog and post videos and pictures for those of you who would like to follow my journey.
