What Can We Grow From Crisis?
Transforming Research Into Collective Wisdom, Healing & Action

I'm raising funds to bring my academic research out of the ivory tower and into the hands of the community it was always meant for. With your support, I will transform my MSc. thesis into accessible, soul-rooted content—including an online course, digital zines, and a podcast called Colour Me Queer—that centers QTBIPOC healing, knowledge sharing, and liberatory education.

This isn't just about funding a project—it's about resourcing a movement.

If you've ever longed for research that speaks our truths, tools that heal, and stories that restore our humanity—this is your invitation.

Hi, my name is Skylar Sookpaiboon (they/them), I am a Two-Spirit, queer, disabled artist, scholar, educator, and somatic trauma therapy practitioner. I’ve dedicated my life to uplifting queer, trans, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and disabled voices, to dismantling systems of oppression, and creating healing-centered spaces for my family and my communities to not only survive, but to thrive in a world that was not built for us.

I’m fundraising to bring two of my long-held dreams to life:

Transforming my MSc. thesis on racialized trans and non-binary health care experiences into accessible community content—including an online course, illustrated zines, reflection guides, and more.

️Launching my podcast, Colour Me Queer, a storytelling project rooted in decolonial healing, QTBIPOC kinship, ancestral wisdom, and radical joy. This podcast will become an international space for QTBIPOC artists, activists, educators, healers, and organizers who have been sharing their gifts and their medicines with me.

This work isn’t just educational—it’s a lifeline for many in our communities who are navigating violence, erasure, and deep isolation on a daily basis. My goal is to create resources and content that are liberatory, trauma-informed, resilience-focused, and accessible, especially to those most often excluded from academia and mainstream media.

Your support will help cover:
  • Audio & video equipment
  • Software & editing services
  • Accessibility tools (e.g., transcripts, captions)
  • Guest speaker honoraria
  • Website, hosting, design & distribution
  • My time, labour, and energy to research, create, and curate with care

I’ve given so much of myself to this work for the past decade—and now I’m asking for your help so that I can go all in and continue doing what I am called to do.

✨ If you believe in decolonizing education, if you want to hear more queer and trans BIPOC voices in the world, and if you’re ready to invest in community-led healing and groundbreaking truths—this is your chance to show up and be part of the change.

Thank you for believing in me, and for helping me plant the seeds to bring my visions into the world.
