In loving memory of Skylar-Rae Hampton
Donation protected
Skylar-Rae Hampton was born at Oldham hospital at just 34 weeks via c-section on the 9th of July 2021 weighing 4lb 8oz she was taken straight to nicu to be cared for as she had very complex health needs.
She has a very rare congenital heart defect, she has two very large holes In the central wall of her heart and the chamber on her left side of the heart is much smaller than the right preventing it to pump and work efficiently which means it doesn’t pump enough blood. In the heart there are two ducts which act as a barrier to stop the blood and pink blood mixing. Skylar-Rae only has one duct which means she has a leaky valve, the blue and pink blood mix and end up in places they shouldn’t so this means the parts of the body that needs the blood doesn’t get the amount it needs. She also has a very narrow pulmonary archery which while in hospital she was having medication to help keep this widened to help with the blood flow however this is not something she can have at home so this medication has sadly been stopped and to add to the craziness of Skylar-Rae, she is also dextrocardia which means everything situates to the right instead of the left and her bowels are also mirrored so they are also on the opposite side.
In medical terms the findings were of dextrocardia with right sided aortic arch, atrial isomerism, large primum ASD/ common atrium, complete unbalanced AVSD, small LV with common AV valve, LVOT very narrow and elongated.
Skylar was born in Oldham hospital, transferred to Manchester for 7 weeks and then to Alderhey Hospital for 2 week. Cardiologist we’re amazed with Skylar’s condition they said she is a really unique complex case and something they have never come across before. Sadly they decided surgery was not an option for Skylar and after a long 9/10 weeks in hospital Shannon & Jack decided to bring their baby girl home.
Doctors gave Skylar hours or a matter of days to survive without the medication she was having in hospital, but she continued to amaze us all and was fighting the medics everyday.
Shannon & Jack have made some amazing memories with Skylar, they have had her christened with her big brother and sister, they have been on a family holiday and they have allowed her to be loved, cuddled & held by so many family and friends who have been able to cherish those fine moments to last a lifetime, we didn’t need photos to make memories, the memories were real and will always be blessing to each and everyone of us.
Sadly, Skylar-Rae gained her angel wings on October 29th 2021 at just 16 weeks old to the day, she was the most perfect smiley baby, her head of hair to her beautiful eyelashes and tiny toes, she was a treasure to us but too perfect this world, our hearts are broken but you will never be forgotten baby girl.
All I ask is a small donation that will help towards the beautiful send off that Skylar-Rae truly deserves, we would love to support Shannon & Jack at this time to take the worry away from such a painful day and to give them a beautiful place of rest for Skylar-Rae so the family can be with her whenever they need to be.
Every single donation is greatly appreciated beyond words, I thank you all for the love and support shown to Shannon & Jack over the past few months, all my love - Savannah x
