I'm Kathleen Jasinskas, the owner of Skylark Music School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I started Skylark with the goal of changing a narrative I heard time and again from fellow parents: "I took piano lessons as a kid and hated it". Music was my refuge growing up, a place where I truly felt like the best version of myself, and I made it my mission to ensure that gift got passed along to my own students.

Seven years later, I am thrilled to report that Skylark Music School is continuing to re-shape this narrative. We are now a staff of eight unique music educators, creating a student-led musical experience for over 100 families in the Triangle.

As we entered the Fall of 2021, with a growing waiting list, and a growing family of our own in our home-studio, it became clear that we needed some new space to stretch our wings.

Starting in early 2022, we will be moving our studio to a new home the Timberlyne Shopping Center! It is an honor to have found a home here along with many family-owned businesses, and we need your help making it the educational space we're dreaming of.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the following expenses:

Purchase of high quality digital pianos - fully weighted keys + volume control = a win!
Installation of acoustical wall tiles to keep our joyful noises contained to our space
Construction of three individual studio pods that can be easily moved to facilitate recitals and other group events
Outfitting of a small reception area to be used for mommy-and-me music classes in the mornings, and as a comfortable study area for our students in the afternoons
Access to high-speed internet to facilitate Zoom lessons and makeups as needed
Funding of full-tuition scholarships for students with financial need

If you're a current student loving lessons in your home, do not worry! This is a chance for us to expand what we are able to offer, and the convenience and flexibility of in-home lessons will still be available to you.
