Hey guys! I am Skye Smith, and I work as a special education paraprofessional in an elementary school! I am 32 years old and have recently been diagnosed with cataracts in both my eyes. The cataracts are so bad I need to have surgery on both eyes, on two different days. The doctor recommends I do the laser treatment, which is less invasive, safer, and an overall better option; however, the procedure would cost $2k per eye. So, I was going to go with the lesser option, which would be to cut with a knife instead of the precision of a laser ($550 each eye), which should have been covered by insurance, but for me, it isn't. The insurance I have through the school requires me to meet a $6,400 deductible BEFORE they will help pay for anything. I am nowhere near close to that and therefore have no help financially for either surgery. Since the death of my husband, it's been years of financial struggle and barely surviving, but making it through. This is just something so important, and I can't just keep ignoring it or putting it off anymore. It's getting worse every day, making it impossible to read, drive and do basic tasks. So, my overall goal would be to raise enough money so I can afford the laser eye cataract removal surgery. But any help is greatly appreciated and truly is a blessing to me.
