Skye's Heart Needs Your Support

My son, Skye is having major open heart surgery for a pulmonary valve transplant on Thursday, March 13th at MUSC in Charleston. He was born with multiple congenital heart defects that almost took his life at three days old. Skye has endured three major open heart surgeries and over a dozen balloons and stents since he was 11 days old.
For the surgery, my youngest son, Maddox, Skye’s mom Tori, and I will take turns staying in the hospital with Skye, while the others stay in a hotel room close by. Skye is expected to be in the hospital for at least a week, and has pre-op tests the morning before surgery.
After driving 900 miles from my home in Kansas, we still have over 200 miles more to go to pick up our youngest son from school on the way to MUSC. The four of us will then be staying in Charleston for at least nine days for the surgery and ongoing hospital stay.
So first and foremost I ask that all of you keep Skye in your thoughts and prayers, and send him whatever positivity you’ve got. Just last year he had two attempted melody valve procedures in the hopes that a minimally invasive valve transplant would accomplish his heart goals.
Unfortunately the procedures were unsuccessful, regardless of the extreme talent, empathy, and knowledge of his surgeon. This made open heart surgery the only viable option.
Between fuel, hotel rooms, food, and still paying our regular bills, this trip is unfortunately taking a huge toll on our finances. Though we’ve known about it for a few months, it’s been a very expensive journey to plan for. It was only in November that he had the last failed melody valve procedure.
Any contribution towards this endeavor would help our family tremendously and would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, and please check back for updates on Skye’s surgery!
Sincerely,
Wes Hardin
