Skye's recovery from Leukemia
Donation protected
On Friday March 29, 2019, my younger sister Skye Orazietti was admitted to Yale Hospital with symptoms including fatigue, strange bruising, and other troubling signs. After some blood tests indicated that she would need a transfusion to increase her blood counts, she remained to await the results of a bone punch biopsy to determine the cause. She was diagnosed with AMPL, a form of Leukemia on Monday, April 1.
Skye's strain of Leukemia
If you follow the link above, you can read a wikipedia entry about the strain, which has a relatively high cure rate, despite its rarity. Doctors and Skye are confident that she will beat this with treatment.
Despite these positive facts, she is expecting to stay at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven for treatment for seven weeks, unable to work, just as she is finishing up her grad school.
Our local family is working hard to support Skye, Phil, and their two-year-old daughter Aubrey with childcare, rotating support at the hospital to keep her spirits up, and helping with other day-to-day matters.
With less income at this time, student loans and mortgage payments on the horizon, medical fees, and more, I have had several people ask if they can donate already and wanted to provide a central location for donations for Skye and her family.
I set the goal at $6000, which would be their full deductible for health insurance, something that would ease their financial burdens immensely. Meeting or exceeding this goal would be fantastic.
If you would like to donate any amount towards this goal, know that 100% of proceeds will go to Skye and Phil for medical bills or other debts incurred during this time.
Your support, your prayers, your kind words and encouragement are all welcome at this time. If you would like any further information, or have any questions, you can reach out to me directly.
