Skydiving for West Cumberland Hospital Intensive Care Unit
Donation protected
9 staff members from the Intensive Care Unit at West Cumberland Hospital are skydiving from 15,000 ft. to raise money for the ICU and its rehabilitation programme at West Cumberland Hospital.
Intensive care is needed if someone is critically ill and requires close monitoring of the patient's signs and general condition with advanced care; most patients in an ICU have problems with one or more organs and will be connected to equipment by several tubes, wires and cables. A highly skilled multidisciplinary team closely takes care of these patients on a 1:1 basis.
After being critically ill, it may take several months for a patient to recover. The intensive care staff carry out health checks to find any likely physical or psychological problems a patient may face because of their illness or if they think they are at risk of having issues later in their recovery, aiding the staff in preparing a personalized rehabilitation plan.
