Skydiving for Kidney Research Uk
Hi everyone!
On the 29th September I am facing my fear of heights and sky diving to raise money for Kidney Research Uk.
I am sure most of my close friends and family are aware of the genetic kidney condition which has closely affected immediate family, but for those of you who aren’t aware this is called Alports syndrome. This is a rare condition which affects the filtration system of the kidneys, and also has consequent effects of vision and hearing. Most people with Alports syndrome end up requiring dialysis or a transplant.
My grandad was luck enough to receive a transplant almost 41 years ago. My sister was also diagnosed with Alports at 16, which is an unusual age to be diagnosed, and she experiences problems with her health more often than what she may make out and let people believe. She is the biggest people pleaser I know and often puts other people before herself; so to show how much I appreciate her and her attitude towards her condition this is why I have decided to do something I have always said I wouldn’t do.
Although my mum is a carrier of the Alports gene mutation, she too often experiences the symptoms found with Alports. This is condition is truly something very close to my heart because of how it has affected my immediate and distant family. I have not experienced any symptoms for this condition, however it is likely I could be a carrier for this gene mutation as well.
I would like to thank Owen for also participating in this sky dive with me, because without him I most likely wouldn’t get in the plane ❤️
So please help us meet our goal of £1000, for Kidney Research Uk.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Kidney Research UK and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
