Skydive for MIND in memory of Alex.
Hello Kate and Han here!
In 2023, we received the most devastating news, our beautiful friend Alex lost her battle with her mental health.
This kind, funny and charming 26 year old didn't believe she belonged here anymore. She had battled with mental illness for a huge portion of her life, and the fight became too much. Its funny how life works, Alex was the most celebrated, colourful and bright light in all of our lives yet she didn't see herself that way.
We all have so much to thank you for, Alex, if only you believed us.
You were enough, even though you felt broken.
Your heart was so big it had space for everyone, we just wish you'd had left space for yourself.
Alex could promise you she would love you with such compassion, empathy and intensity that you would forget what life felt like before she came along.
So.. Alex! you may have believed you wasn't the best at being loved but WOW you were pretty damn amazing at loving.
Alex loved everyone! It didn't matter how much money you had in your pocket or what you looked like or where you came from, she saw YOU as a person and she loved people! She held animals so dear to her heart and would go out of her way if one was in need. Alex loved to dance, she loved to sing, she loved to chinwag till the birds were chirping. She was known for linking arms with homeless ladies and taking them on a girly day out to the shops for things they needed! She worked in care on and off for years, and these were just a fraction of the reasons Alex proved she had the biggest heart of anyone we know. Alex loved music and drawing, and stepping in if you ever needed someone to help with any of your creative projects. She loved to cook, but she was quite terrible at it for the most part. We had many late nights standing outside because she had set the fire alarm off, burning things in the microwave, so we were glad when she stuck to her usual pot noodle made with the hot tap haha. We could go on forever about all the things we love about Alex, but we would run out of letters, so to keep things short and sweet. Alex had all the time in the world for you, and we wish we had all the time with her. This is for you girl! we know you will be watching from the pub in the sky with a nice cold voddy and coke.
Mental illness doesn't discriminate, nobody is safe from it. A lot of us suffer day to day, and some of us have loved ones who do. Charities like MIND are the backbone of the country's mental health services, especially in times like we are living in, when funding for the NHS mental health sectors is being cut more and more every year. In MIND's own words, "The mental health system isn't good enough. We're fighting to change it. Discover the issues we're campaigning on, and join us in the fight." and This is so important!!
To anyone who donates to our skydive in memory of Alex, you are a part of this fight for better mental health services so THANKYOU!! charities like this helped us have Alex in our lives a little longer, so we know there work helps massively!
