A home to call their own

Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page for my dear family! My name is Kristin Barnes, and I am starting this fundraiser for my sister Ali and my brother-in-law Tim, so they can buy a bigger house for their family. On July 12, 2022, their family grew by four people literally overnight!

So, here's the story, and I will try to make it all as clear and concise as possible :-)

The Back Story:

At the beginning of this year, Tim's brother and sister-in-law died unexpectedly, leaving behind four children, now ranging in ages 7-16 years old. Ali and Tim immediately knew they needed to keep the kids together and welcomed their nieces and nephews into their family of five. Without a will and with no family nearby, Ali and Tim spent their savings on attorney fees, traveling across the country to escort the kids back to their home in Arizona, and purchasing necessary home items like beds, furniture, and clothing for the children.

The Problem:

Ali and Tim’s new family of nine people are in need of a larger home to call their own. Before becoming guardians to the 4 children, Ali, Tim, and the kids were already growing out of their rental house and had started to look at purchasing a new house. Now, with 4 additional children they require an even larger home. Ali and Tim want to make sure all 7 of their children feel safe and secure, particularly for the 4 who have experienced such adversity.

The Good News:

-The kids are safe and have integrated well into their new family!

- With a lot of help from family and friends, the 4 children are well cared for, receiving medical and mental health services- they are thriving in their new environment.

-Ali and Tim have been approved for a loan and would like to put in an offer on a new house!

-Ali and Tim have just been approved and have officially started the adoption process of ALL four kids!

The Ask:

Without a down payment, they are not able to be competitive in the current housing market. Ali and Tim have selflessly spent all their time, energy, and money on four kids who have lost everything- including their parents.

That's where you come in! I humbly ask my friends, family, or anyone who feels compelled to help, to donate what they can to help this beautiful family get into their own house! Ali and Tim have sacrificed so much for others who have lost everything; now it's time for us to show them our support. I am trying to raise $15,000 for the down payment on the house. If we exceed our goal (which would be incredible), all monies will be used to buy extra furnishings needed for a new, bigger home outfitted for a family of 9!
