Dear readers, friends, patrons!
We’re six driven film and fashion students from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, bringing our collective vision to life this semester through our very first original short film, and we need your support to make it happen.
Premiering at Lab111 in Amsterdam, our film will reimagine the vampire myth through a distinctly young female lense, exploring what happens when a woman’s image is stolen, when her soul and body are made into something to be consumed and immortalised without her consent.
Set in a cold, contemporary world, Opium follows a vampire and a photographer locked in a silent game of power, obsession, seduction and betrayal. It’s a story about modern monsters, the violence of the gaze, of objectification, of control, of love and about the terrifying consequences of turning a woman into a muse, a myth.
We are now reaching out to our community, to fellow creatives, friends, movie lovers, and anyone who believes in the power of emerging voices to help us bring this story to life.
Your donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward:
Renting professional camera & lighting equipment
Creating stunning costumes and styling rooted in fashion storytelling
Developing makeup and special effects, including creature design
Covering location rental and set design
Supporting post-production, such as editing, color grading, and sound design
We’re aiming to raise €2,200 to fully fund our production, covering everything from camera and lighting rental to costume design, prosthetics, and post-production. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to making our vision a reality. We deeply appreciate all support, therefore our most generous patrons — those who donate €100 or more — will receive a thank-you credit in the final film as a token of our gratitude.
We’re incredibly excited to share this story with the world, and endlessly thankful for your belief in our work.
