Se Kyong (SK)'s Fight Against Cancer

Hi everyone! You may know our mom by one of several names—she goes by Se Kyong, SK, and 최세경. She's just "엄마"/"Mom"/"Mimi" to us, and she needs a lot of prayer and support right now as she battles advanced stage 3 pancreatic cancer

Back in June 2023, our mom went to the emergency room for back pain and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. We were told at the time that there was a very low chance of cancer, but that an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure would be conducted just in case. After 3-4 months of increasing pain and trying to get the procedure scheduled, our mom returned to the emergency room in October and finally got the procedure done. She was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 pancreatic cancer then, and decided to come to Korea for familial support and treatment options.

We are very thankful for the speed and skill of our Korean doctors/hospital, and for the fact that our mom was able to start chemotherapy last week. However, all of her medical costs are out of pocket because she doesn't have Korean health insurance as of now, and she hasn't been able to work since her diagnosis due to her poor physical condition.
