Ugh... why is asking for help so hard?? I'm usually such a private person and this makes me so uncomfortable. I surely didn't want to share on social media, I'm not trying to get attention like that, this is a very personal thing for me.
But I'm desperate.
Last month a specialist I was referred to, found a "tennis ball sized mass" on either my right ovary or uterus, during an ultrasound she had ordered. I had an MRI on Friday that will help us clarify which. I've experienced pain most of my adult life and now I know why. I thought we had ruled out cancer with a blood test that I had early on. But as of my pre-op appointment on the 17th, the doctors verbage was, that she "doesn't think that it's cancerous" and she "hopes it's a fibroid". Either way... it needs to be removed.
I scheduled the surgery right away, May 25th, because I thought I might be losing my insurance on the 1st of June. The company I've been with for 2 years merged with another and until this last week, I was under the impression that my role would no longer exist. Luckily, that has changed... I will be staying with the new company, keeping my job and maintaining my insured status. Thank God because my surgeon and now the hospital, are requiring that 50% of their fees be paid prior to the procedure. It was to be paid the 18th and I didn't have it... so I'm having to reschedule. The results of the MRI will let us know if the new date will need to be sooner than later.
In the past, I've have a bad habit of not paying my medical bills. In fact, aside from 1 thing... it's the only thing I have on my credit report, old medical bills. And to be honest that's what I had planned to do in this scenario also, had they let me have the surgery. Which is foolish, I know. But when you live paycheck to paycheck, sometimes it's the only choice you have. It's a shame because I've been working so hard on my credit. My score has gone up over 100 points in the last 2 years but it's still not high enough for anyone to loan me anything.
Anyway, $4000 is my deductible. Which this surgery will cost more than, once all is said and done. But what I need to get my foot in the door is $2660. If you can help, I'd appreciate it. If not, trust me... I get it.
If this app allows updates, I'll keep everyone posted on progress.
Thank you,
Noelle
