Christa Thompson, a long-time English teacher in Warwick and Toll Gate faculty member, has been supporting her family as her husband courageously battles ALS. The Thompson Family has continued to experience the physical, emotional, and financial demands of ALS for over three years. Olin's physical health has gradually worsened as is expected with ALS, and the managed care demands have risen. The monthly cost for nursing assistance has risen to an exorbitant rate, upwards of $8,000, and unfortunately, it is not covered by health insurance. With the costs of food, gas, utilities, and college costs rising, Christa and her family are weathering a financial burden, coupled with the emotional one.
