Hi, my name is Skip Morris and I am fundraising for a double lung transplant. Here is my story....Back in 2008, I was diagnosed with COPD. Since being diagnosed the doctors have been treating my condition with medications and oxygen therapy. At first, the medications were working, and I only had to be on oxygen when needed, but that all changed about six years ago. My lung function has decreased, my overall lung function is at 40 percent, and I must be on 4 liters of oxygen all the time now. The doctors are telling me that my lung function will only decrease over time, and the only option I have is to have a double lung transplant. Back in March, I was referred to Duke Medical Center for evaluation and it was confirmed that the transplant is needed to extend my life expectancy. Although I have Medicare, it does not cover all the costs associated with the transplant. I will have to relocate to Durham prior to the surgery and could possibly have to stay in the area up to a year. In addition to the living expenses that will be incurred, just to name a few, there will be insurance deductibles, medical cost after surgery, and prescription costs. With the help of your donations, I am hoping to have a chance to live and enjoy life again. Thank you.
