Help skinnyblk get to Chicago!!
Don protégé
Hello, my name is Sean Avery, I’m a rapper, poet & educator from Avondale, AZ & for the past 2 years I’ve been working on something titled skinnyblk.
skinnyblk is both an album and stage show that celebrates Black Queerness. Directed by Dr. Tamika Sanders, produced by Mic Maven, with choreography and dance from Niamey Thomas. skinnyblk uses anime, superheroes, movement, rap, and spoken word, to show how I wrestle with internalized and projected hyper-masculinity as I discover my authentic self.
On March 15th, my team & I got some exciting news. We’ve been accepted into the 2018 Chicago Hip-Hop Theater Festival!
The festival is from June 6th - June 10th at Clarendon Park on the North-side of Chicago & our show dates are on Friday, June 8th and Saturday, June 9th. If you’re interested in coming, tickets are $10 & available at https://chicagohiphoptheaterfest.brownpapertickets.com/ but, in order to get there, we need y’all help.
Adding up all our expenses, we need $3,700 to get to Chicago.
Anything you can give helps; no dollar amount is too small! Even if you can’t give money, we’ll accept prepaid visas, extra plane mileage, hotel discounts, or rental car discounts, whatever you are willing to give, we will accept!
Please at least like and share this GoFundMe so our campaign will be seen.
Thank you for supporting artists! We appreciate your time, energy, money & commitment.
