I’d also like to clarify for those who don’t know. I went to school in Haileybury, and lived in Englehart there after. I still go to Englehart frequently.

As some people know, many do not. Beau has been struggling. A lot of people have reached out wanting to help and suggesting I start a go fund me, to help offset the hefty cost of vet bills.

Summer of 2025, Beau started having increased drinking and increased peeing. I didn’t think much of it, since it was warmer weather. Ran some bloodwork, and all seemed normal. As the symptoms continued and new symptoms arrived in fall, 2025, I became increasingly concerned. Luckily I work for an amazing clinic with amazing co-workers, who have been nothing short of supportive during this time.

After numerous lab testing was performed, he was originally diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus (DI), which is the bodies inability to properly absorb water. He was put on medication, and did well.

6 weeks into the medication, he started having symptoms again. This time with added symptoms. Not only did he have increased peeing and drinking, he also had an increase in appetite, decrease in weight loss and muscle mass, and was overall just not his spunky self.

This dog was once at a healthy weight and eating 2 cups of food daily. Now, he needs 6-7 cups daily just to keep weight on him. This is even after changing food.

After more lab work (even tests that had to special ordered), X-rays, ultrasounds, and restricting water intake, symptoms are still happening. X-rays showed something abnormal, but unsure of what it is exactly. There’s a possibility it’s a kidney abnormality, or a mass. As a result Beau has been referred to King Animal Hospital, which is an emergency and referral veterinary hospital.

I don’t have an exact estimate, but I’ve been told to expect the bill to be anywhere from $10,000-$15,000. I’ve applied for financing, and have been denied.

As most of you know, Beau has been my best friend since 2019. He was actively working as my service dog until 2024. He came to college with me, and helped me through all of my programs. He quickly became known as the rainbow dog, due to his constant dye jobs from creative grooming. He was my practice dog in vet tech school, as well as companion animal rehab.

I’m a humble person, who doesn’t like to ask for help. However this situation doesn’t just involve me. It also involves my best friend. Although his spunk has come back, the other symptoms still remain. He has to wear diapers, or else he will have accidents. It’s been a struggle to save finances for Beau, but also pay all my other bills on time.
